“过期食品”英文怎么说?

在购买食品时，我们都会特别留意一下食物的保质期有多久，是否新鲜，以免买到过期的商品。

“保质期”指产品的最佳食用期，可以翻译为：

best-before date

shelf life

expiration date

freshness date

表示“the length of time that a product, especially food, can be kept in a shop before it becomes too old to be sold or used”。

超出保质期的食品即“过期食品”，可以翻译为“expired food”。

下面是一些食品日期的英文小知识，一起来学习吧~

best before

best before后面跟上日期，显示的是食用此食品最佳的时间。多用于速冻、干货或罐头食品，如果带有这个字样的食品就算日期过了也可以吃，只不过就不是最新鲜的时候了。

shelf life

“货架期，保存期，保质期”，一般用单数，表示商品（尤其是食品）在变质之前保存在商店或者家里的时长。

have a shelf life of...保存期是...，保质期是...

例句：

新鲜水果的保质期很短。

Fresh fruit has a very short shelf life.

production/ manufacturing date

production date生产日期

manufacturing date生产日期

product是生产，manufacturing的原型是manufacture，意思是制造，所以production date和manufacturing date都是生产日期。

durability

durability /d?r??b?l?ti/ period有效期，耐用期

durability的含义是使用年限，所以有效期是durability period。

expiration date

expiration指到期、（一段时间的）结束，前面讲过，过期食品可以表达为expired food。保质期、截止日期可以用expiration date来表示。

例句：

但是过期的苏打水跑气，味道也会大打折扣。

But soda past its expiration date goes flat and loses much of its taste.

sell-by date

sell-by date指保质期、最晚销售日期。

例句：

酸奶已经过期了。
